“We just passed a sign,” Emma called out. “Looks like we’re almost there.”

Sarah put down the book she was reading, made her way to the front of the RV, and climbed into the passenger seat.

“Did it say how far?” she asked.

“Fair enough,” Sarah agreed. “I’m just glad we’re getting out of the city for a while.”

“Going home will be fine,” Sarah said. “Finding the enthusiasm to get my butt back in the seat at my office might be a struggle, though. I’m not looking forward to that after two weeks of rest and relaxation.”

“What makes you think you’ll get any rest?” Emma asked. She pulled a hand from the steering wheel and placed it on her wife’s thigh.

It didn’t stay there long before it was smacked. She let out a laughing protest as she yanked it away.

“Keep your mind on what you’re doing,” Sarah said. “We want to get there in one piece.”

“Yes, Mum,” Emma quipped.

After passing another sign for the RV park, they simply watched the scenery as they drove to the junction and made the turn. It wasn’t long before Emma brought the vehicle to a stop in front of the reception building.

“Think it’s busy?” Sarah asked.

“Doubt it,” Emma replied. “When I was a kid, my parents always went on vacation at this time of year because it’s early in the season. They generally just decided what to do at the start of each day and hit the road. I don’t remember ever being turned away from a camp. There were generally lots of spaces available.”

“Times might have changed,” Sarah said with a cheeky titter. “I mean, you’re old now, and this is your first RV trip in how long?”

“Yeah, funny.” Emma rolled her eyes. “If that mouth of yours gets too smart, I might accidentally on purpose forget you’re with me and leave you stuck in the woods at some point.”

“Well, maybe I’ll do something else with my mouth when we get settled in,” Sarah shot back. “I know you’ll like that.”

“Then let’s get ourselves a spot,” Emma said.

The pair of them got out of the vehicle to make their way inside the reception building. Securing a place for the night turned out to be straightforward. They returned to the RV and drove in the direction of their allotted site.

“Just along here on the left,” Emma said after they made a final turn.

The camp was relatively quiet, but the last site they passed before theirs was occupied.
